Capturing Elegance: Marc Burckhardt's Illustrations Illuminate John Lewis Edinburgh

Immerse yourself in the exquisite tapestry of Marc Burckhardt's illustrations for the grand reopening of the @johnlewis store in Edinburgh. A collaboration with @aandeddb has birthed a series of paintings that redefine the city's iconic vistas in a mature and unexpected light.

"I love the idea of classical landscape views and the element of surprise in encountering something unexpected – an approach I try to bring to all my paintings," says Burckhardt. "I’ve tried to focus on these beautiful but familiar views in a way that resonates with the people of Edinburgh and hopefully appeals to both their sense of history and sense of humour."

Burckhardt's artistic lens transforms Edinburgh's landmarks into whimsical yet sophisticated visions. Arthur’s Seat, now a giant armchair, and the Ross Fountain, a colossal Yves Saint Laurent lipstick, offer a playful reinterpretation of the city's renowned scenes. Each whimsy pays homage to the newly refurbished elements of John Lewis, cleverly intertwining the brand's offerings with the essence of Edinburgh.

Commissioned by @aandeddb, this poster series unveils a curated journey through the refurbished John Lewis, from the Beauty Studio to the World of Design and the Nursery Service. Burckhardt's illustrations serve as more than visual delights; they are an artistic navigation, guiding patrons through the store's reimagined spaces.

While we may yearn to witness the unveiling ourselves, Burckhardt's mature and refined illustrations offer a glimpse into the sophisticated world awaiting within John Lewis Edinburgh.
