Mickey 17 Official Poster by Jisu Choi

Bong Joon-ho's 2025 film Mickey 17 marks his return to cinema after the Oscar-winning Parasite.

Adapted from Edward Ashton's novel Mickey7, this sci-fi black comedy stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, an "Expendable" who undergoes repeated deaths and regenerations during a colonization mission to the icy planet Niflheim.

The narrative delves into themes of identity, capitalism, and survival, with Mickey confronting the implications of his expendability.

The film's promotional posters vividly encapsulate its themes. Jisu’s poster features a series of identical Mickeys, emphasizing the concept of cloning and loss of individuality, symbolizing the chaos and existential crises he faces.

Mickey 17 has garnered critical acclaim for its unique blend of humor and science fiction. Robert Pattinson's performance has been particularly praised, earning him a nomination at the 23rd Director's Cut Awards. T

he film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and was released in theaters on March 7, 2025.
