I Deliver Parcels in Beijing: Delivering Parcels, Delivering Truths

I Deliver Parcels in Beijing - Book Cover

I Deliver Parcels in Beijing, Hu Anyan’s story moves through anonymous mega-cities where ambition and exhaustion blur into one endless night shift. During COVID lockdowns, Hu began posting essays: memories of suffocating heat, logistics centers where water flows but rest doesn’t, and desperate karaoke sessions in place of sleep.

It’s work without future, without meaning — but Hu, armed with dry humor and stubborn dignity, refuses to dissolve into it. Each odd job becomes a chapter, each chapter a fight against becoming invisible.

This is not a book about hope. It’s about continuing anyway. Reading, writing, moving on — Hu sketches a portrait of the unseen engines of modern life, the ones we depend on yet never see.
