Marc Burckhardt : Artwork for The Sims 4 ‘Enchanted By Nature’
A Tale of Secrets, Seduction, and Spells
The Sims 4: Foraging For Desire is a cross-platform experiment in storytelling that blends a Wattpad novel, a video game expansion, and contemporary art.
On Wattpad, author Laura Steven’s romantasy ‘Foraging For Desire’ unfolds in a world of court intrigue, enchanted forests, and forbidden romance.
Inside The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature, players can step into that same world—taking on quests, exploring magical landscapes, and decorating homes with objects drawn from the narrative.
Marc Burckhardt's painting, created as the cover for Laura Steven’s story, now lives both on the book and inside the game as a collectible artwork Sims can buy and display.
EA has tied it all together with an Encouragement Video, encouraging fans to read, play, and even help write the story themselves.
The Artwork by Marc Burckhardt
When award winning artist Marc Burckhardt paints, he works in egg tempera and oil on wood panels, drawing on Renaissance traditions to give his images a surface both aged and immediate.
Now, his latest audience isn’t gallery-goers but players of The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature, the new expansion from EA Games.

The Story
At the center of the collaboration is Foraging For Desire by Laura Steven, the romantasy novel that inspired the expansion.
The story follows a young woman who stumbles into a magical forest where the line between safety and danger blurs. Caught between political intrigue at court and the secrets of the enchanted woods, she must choose between loyalty and desire, survival and enchantment.
Themes of forbidden love, hidden power, and the pull of nature run throughout the chapters, which are available to read for free on Wattpad:

The novel is open ended, and readers are invited to submit their own chapters to continue the tale.
How Players Shape the Story…
Within the expansion’s enchanted forests, ruined castles, and moss-covered cottages, players guide fairy Sims through quests, gather herbs, unlock magical skills, and decorate their homes with themed objects—including Burckhardt’s painting!
But here’s what makes this truly extraordinary: players can finish the story themselves.
Foraging For Desire isn’t complete—Wattpad and EA invite players to submit their own chapters. Selected contributions will be published in the evolving book, with the writer’s name credited in official versions. Players aren’t just playing; they’re authors, shaping a novel that spans platforms.
Gameplay: Sims4 Expansion ‘Enchanted By Nature ‘
Occult Lives in The Sims
Enchanted by Nature continues a long tradition of supernatural expansions in The Sims 4:
Vampires (2017) introduced immortal Sim archetypes with a gothic skill tree.
Mermaids (Island Living, 2019) brought ocean-dwelling Sims with unique hydration needs.
Spellcasters (Realm of Magic, 2019) added potion brewing and magic duels.
Werewolves (2022) introduced transformation under moonlight and temperaments.
Fairies (2025, Enchanted by Nature) arrive as the newest occult lot—with wings, ailments, charm, and deep storytelling potential.
Critics have celebrated fairies. TechRadar calls Enchanted by Nature the strongest occult-themed expansion yet, with fairies as the most balanced and playful type.
GamesRadar ranked them highly for customization and powers—though their ease of gameplay brings less challenge.
What Players Are Saying on TikTok
Here’s how TikTok creators are responding:
This magical trailer post invites players to “dive into the magical world,” offering Sims wings to “embrace the outdoors in this enchanting gameplay.”
Another creator’s first look shares “first impressions of The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature expansion pack! Get ready for magical gameplay experiences!”
A third video shows actual gameplay, with the Sim fully transformed: “discover how it feels to play as a fairy!”
These clips reflect a rush of excitement for fairies, wings, and fantasy gameplay—real enthusiasm from actual players.
Art, Gaming, and Storytelling Collide
What started as a Wattpad cover painting now lives in gameplay—but players are not mere consumers. They can live within the story and help write its ending. Burckhardt's painting hangs on virtual walls; behind the scenes, players write its next chapter.
