Marc Burckhardt: ‘Don’t Wake Daddy XX’ Exhibition — A Decade of Cult Pop-Surrealism
Marc Burckhardt marks an important milestone as he joins the 20th-anniversary edition of Don’t Wake Daddy XX at Feinkunst Krüger, Hamburg. Don’t Wake Daddy is one of the world’s longest-running annual Lowbrow/Pop Surrealism exhibitions, curated by Heiko Müller.
The show opens on 29 November 2025 in Hamburg at Feinkunst Krüger. It marks a clear milestone for an exhibition that has gathered 192 artists from 28 countries across two decades.
Marc has taken part for over ten years, and his presence gives this anniversary a grounded sense of continuity.
Marc Burckhardts artwork in the show
Marc presents Equuus Marini, acrylic and oil on wood, 20 × 20 cm.
His approach sits well within the tone of the exhibition. The scale is contained. The detailing is firm. Each edition of the show moves forward in small steps, and Marc’s new piece sits within that pattern.
The atmosphere of the event remains direct and playful, with a focus on figurative tension, surreal humour and scenes that shift between clarity and strangeness.
