Cool Beer, Characterful Art: Javi Aznarez’s Fridge-Friendly Designs for Andes Origen

Opening the fridge and finding the new Andes Origen cans illustrated by Javi Aznarez feels a bit like interrupting a group mid-conversation. You go in for a beer and the cans look back as if they were busy doing their own thing. That’s the Javi effect — the characters always seem to have lives beyond the drawing.

The team at This Is New London know exactly why they keep working with him. His humour sits quietly in every figure. His scenes feel warm, a little chaotic, and somehow calm at the same time. He has a long history with the Andes Origen brand, and these cans show how well the partnership works.

Each design creates a small world wrapped around the aluminium.

One can shows a boat on the surface with an entire underwater neighbourhood below — divers, fish, and a crab who looks surprisingly organised.

Another gives you a lakeside full of sunbathers, roller-skaters, swimmers, and a band casually playing to whoever drifts past. The river scene brings flags, relaxed swimmers, and a snorkeller popping up like he’s double-checking the weather.

The city-bar can lines up balconies, tables, and a waiter who seems slightly overwhelmed but still committed. And the big beach scene mixes umbrellas, families, swimmers, and a dog who looks like it has opinions.

You take a sip, and the scenes stay lively in the corner of your eye. The cans keep you company in a way that’s easy, light, and entertaining without trying too hard.

Illustrated cans are popular now, with brands like Mikkeller, To Øl, and Beavertown using artwork to build identity.

Andes Origen fits comfortably into that space, and Javi gives them a tone that feels ownable, human, funny, and instantly recognisable.
