Joel Holland Storefronts at Bryant Park Winter Village 2026

OPENING OCTOBER 28TH! 🎄

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! 🎅✨

The countdown is on! The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park opens on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, celebrating its 25th anniversary season in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

And this year, illustrator Joel Holland is getting a storefront of his own!

Joel is bringing his celebrated Storefronts books & illustrations to one of New York’s most festive destinations.

There’s an extra reason for us to celebrate: Bryant Park is just around the corner from our New York office. We’re practically neighbours for the festive season!

Meet Joel Holland at Booth W39

Joel is a New York-based illustrator and designer who has lived in the city for more than twenty years. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker and New York Magazine, as well as in advertising campaigns, book covers and Apple Store windows around the world.

His Storefronts series began during the pandemic, when he started drawing the independent businesses around his neighbourhood. What began as a personal project grew into a celebration of the places that give a city its character: corner delis, neighbourhood restaurants, bookshops, bakeries, cafés and other much-loved local institutions.

His books include NYC Storefronts, Brooklyn Storefronts, London Shopfronts and Paris Shopfronts, published by Prestel. Each brings together his hand-drawn illustrations and stories about the businesses, architecture and people that make these places special.

You can explore more of the project in the Dutch Uncle Journal:

A Christmas market with plenty of character

Bryant Park Winter Village is one of New York City’s signature holiday destinations.

For its 25th anniversary season, the park once again transforms into a festive gathering place, with more than 180 European-inspired, jewel-box-style kiosks showcasing independent makers, artisans, specialist shops and food vendors.

Alongside the Holiday Shops, there’s the famous 17,000-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink and The Lodge, a rinkside destination for festive food, drinks and après-skate gatherings. Bring your own skates and rink admission is free!

The Holiday Shops run from October 28, 2026 until January 3, 2027.

Set between 40th and 42nd Streets and Fifth and Sixth Avenues, Bryant Park sits beside the New York Public Library, surrounded by Midtown’s architecture and energy.

And this year, there’s a very good reason to add Booth W39 to your itinerary :)

Come for the Christmas spirit. Leave with a little piece of New York.

Joel will be at his storefront most days, so stop by for a chat, pick up a signed copy of one of his books, buy a print or take home an original artwork.

It’s a chance to meet the illustrator behind the Storefronts series, discover the stories behind his work and find a gift with a genuine connection to the city.

And if you’re visiting - the Dutch Uncle’s NYC office is just around the corner so we might see you there!

Who’s next door? Meet Joel’s market neighbours

Joel’s Storefronts booth is W39, positioned between two neighbouring stalls:

  • W38 — Inchen Sonam: jewellery, making this a great stop for anyone looking for a distinctive wearable gift.

  • W40 — Yumi Jewelry + Plants: jewellery and plants, bringing together accessories and something green for the home.

And that’s just the beginning. The wider market has plenty of other interesting stops to explore, including:

The market covers everything from artwork and handmade accessories to homewares, jewellery, food, sweets and gifts.

It’s the sort of place where you can arrive looking for one present and leave with several.
