Marc Burckhardt Paints the 2026 Tecovas × Mossy Oak White-Tailed Deer Conservation Stamp
American painter and illustrator Marc Burckhardt has created White Tail, an original painting of a white-tailed deer doe and fawn for the new 2026 Tecovas × Mossy Oak White-Tailed Deer Conservation Stamp.
The limited-edition stamp raises money for wildlife and habitat conservation across Texas, with 100% of money raised donated to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
For Marc, a Texan and lifelong nature lover, the commission brings together painting, wildlife and his home state in a particularly personal project.
What is the Tecovas × Mossy Oak Conservation Stamp?
The project is the first collaborative conservation stamp from Tecovas and Mossy Oak, bringing together two brands closely associated with Texas, outdoor culture and land stewardship.
The 2026 stamp features Marc's painting of a white-tailed doe with her fawn, an image deliberately focused on the next generation of Texas wildlife. The limited-edition stamp measures 1.5 × 2 inches and is currently available for $15 through selected Tecovas stores and Mossy Oak.

White Tail by Marc
At the centre of the project is Marc's original painting:

Rather than depicting the familiar trophy image of an adult buck, Marc's painting centres on a doe and young fawn. It gives the image a quieter narrative about continuation, protection and the landscape future generations of wildlife will inherit.
That idea fits naturally with Marc's wider practice. His paintings often borrow the atmosphere, symbolism and meticulous construction of historical painting while using those traditions to tell contemporary stories.

Why the white-tailed deer matters in Texas
The white-tailed deer is one of the defining animals of the Texas landscape. According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, an estimated five million white-tailed deer live across 252 of Texas's 254 counties, from urban green spaces to remote ranchland.
That makes the doe and fawn in Marc's painting more than a decorative wildlife image. They represent an animal deeply connected to the ecology, culture and identity of Texas.

Art supporting conservation
One hundred percent of the money raised through sales of the stamp is being donated by Tecovas and Mossy Oak to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, supporting science-based conservation of Texas land, water, habitats and wildlife.
The Foundation works with corporate partners, private donors and conservation organisations to protect what it describes as the state's "wild things and wild places" for future generations. Tecovas is already among its corporate partners.
For Marc, the project also has an unusually direct connection between the physical artwork and what it represents: a small painted image of Texas wildlife becomes an object people can collect, while every sale contributes back to the landscape and animals depicted within it.
