Paris in the Olympic Spotlight: The Parisianer's Artistic Tribute Through Illustration

The Parisianer, a collective art project established in 2013, unites over 200 artists, illustrators, and comic book authors to conceptualize covers for an imaginary magazine titled "The Parisianer," which pays tribute to the city of Paris through a variety of themes.

This year, in alignment with the Olympic Games, "Sports in the City" becomes the focal theme, inviting forty illustrators to explore sporting disciplines in playful and quirky manners.

Among these illustrators, three were our own, including Javi Aznarez who was entrusted with creating the cover artwork as well as Marc Majewski and Charlotte Trounce.

Their illustrations depict everyday moments intertwined with significant sports achievements, from a sprint for the last café terrace table to fencing matches on the docks, capturing the essence of sports and their universal, unifying, diverse, and joyful values in forty-three original pieces.

These illustrations, varying from poetic to humorous, unconventional, and realistic, boldly accentuate Paris's beauty.

An exhibition showcasing these exceptional drawings will be held at the Paris City Hall from March 1 to 31, 2024, presenting a unique opportunity to discover emerging talents and renowned figures in illustration and comic books. The collection, celebrating sports and Paris in an innovative way, will also be featured in a book published by Éditions de la Martinière on March 1, 2024, for 25€.
