Church’s Shoes: Animations by Simone Massoni Celebrating Craft

The collaboration for Church’s Shoes features two elegant animations by illustrator Simone Massoni that showcase the brand’s premium in-store services. This project brings a refined visual language to the heritage of footwear maintenance and personalization.

A Heritage of Excellence

The story of Church’s is a chronicle of British innovation, beginning in 1675 in Northampton. This city is the global heart of leather craftsmanship. Officially established as Church & Co. in 1873, the brand has spent over 150 years perfecting the art of the handmade shoe.In 1999, Church’s became part of the Prada Group. This partnership expanded the global reach of the brand while maintaining a strict commitment to artisanal quality. Every pair remains a luxury icon, requiring approximately 250 manual steps and eight weeks of manufacturing in the historic Northampton factory to reach completion.

Service and Restoration Made Simple

The animations, Shoe Shine and Shoe Refurbishment, illustrate the expert care available at Church’s stores. The artwork by Simone Massoni uses clean, sophisticated lines to show exactly how your shoes receive a new lease on life.

Professional Shoeshine: An expert service that provides deep cleaning and polishing to keep the leather soft and glowing.

Shoe Repairs and Refurbishment: Church’s shoes use a traditional Goodyear welt, which means the sole is stitched to the upper rather than glued. This allows the shoes to be completely taken apart and rebuilt at the original factory, making them a true investment for a lifetime.

Experience the Store

These animations offer a look into the expanded world of Church’s services. The campaign highlights several ways to care for or customize your footwear:

Bespoke Care: Professional maintenance and expert repair services that honor the longevity of the leather.

‘Crafted for You’: A personalized service where you design your ideal shoe, choosing everything from the leather type to the final finish.

The Craft Behind the Motion

The production uses high-quality 2D and frame-by-frame animation. Every movement is drawn individually to ensure the motion feels as intentional and handcrafted as the shoes themselves. By focusing on the texture of the leather and the form of the shoe, these animations tell a story of quality that is easy to appreciate on any screen.
